The Mae Hong Son Highway District Office was originally a "Road Construction Section" under Highway Office No. 1 (Chiang Mai). When the Department of Highways expanded the highway network connecting provinces (Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son), a temporary Mae Hong Son Highway District Office was established in Ban Pha Bong, Village No. 1, known to the public as "Pha Bong Highway Department," between 1974 and 1975. Later, it was relocated and re-established as the "Mae Hong Son Highway District Office," located at Km. 350 + 950 (formerly Km. 262 + 950) on National Highway No. 108, Mae Surin – Pang Mu section (formerly Huai Pong Village – Mae Hong Son Municipality), under the supervision of Mai Nga Village, Pang Mu Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mae Hong Son Province. It occupies an area of 51 rai, 3 ngan, and 68 square wah. This location has been in operation since 1977, a total of 41 years
